Zara / November 2010

Online-Shopping is driving me slowly but surely into a financial ruin. The fact that weekly more
shops spring up like mushrooms doesn't make it better actually. While staying in bed ill the
last days, I caught myself once again in a virtual windowshopping-stroll at Topshop and
the other common suspects. Thereby I came across Zara's new lookbook. And what did my
eyes spot there next to some other delicacies? The perfect leopardprint coat, I've been
looking for so long now. Hopefully it will be avaible soon and find his way directly into
my shopping cart. Untill then I'm gonna dabble myself in a online-shopping-abstinence...

Les nuances d'automne:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Since the temperatures over here are already going down it's time to think about the new season. Hard, but true: Summer's definately over!

This autumn it's all about colors like camel, beige and sand. Nearly every designer had a piece of those colors in his collection, preferably a long wide coat, reminiscent of businessmen's winter outerwear. I'm definately pro-camel but sometimes it looks a bit sallow and prude to me. To avoid such an effect I'd wear it with black leather or similar/nude colors and brown accessoires.

I already own a pair of camel booties which I bought in some little store in Paris last summer which I'm definately gonna take out again. I also spotted a nice cape in H&Ms autumn collection. Hopefully it will be available soon and for the rest - well let's see....

Les Filles en Vogue

Photobucket
Sasha, Freja, Natasha, Constance and Sessilee at Hermès F/W 2010 RTW

About one month ago my lovely older sister went to France. It's always hard to bring something along for me that I really like, that's why I instructed her to bring some french fashion magazines only. In my opinion the french and british fashion press is much better and informative than the german one. On top of that it's a nice way to improve your language skills... By all means she also got me the current Vogue issue and luckily for me it contained the little documentation "Les Filles en Vogue": Sasha Pivovarova, Freja Beha Erichsen, Sessilee Lopez and Constance Jablonski were accompanied by Loïc Prigent (The September Issue and Le Jour d'Avant) during the Fall 2010 défiles at Paris FW. I totally enjoyed and loved this film of 52 minutes, because it allowed a look into the daily routine of a topmodel during FW, no matter if backstage, on, off or after the shows and contained a bunch of humour. I also liked that the models sometimes filmed by themselves. Even if the quality is not the best, it's definately worth watching it and if only to enjoy Freja's cool "Every thing is fine as long as I can smoke"-attitude and the prima ballerina Sasha in her sweet, freaky mannor.

Here's a little foretaste:

Berlin FW: Arrondissement Aq1 / Schumacher / 30paarhaende

Arrondissement Aq1

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

When the Arrondissement Aq1 show started I knew from the first look that it would be one of my favorites. The entire collection was pure but yet edgy and unsetting. The designer Christina Arend used mainly colors like grey, nude, black and anthrazit. I also fell in love with the accessories: Bold wedges in black and cream and statement necklaces. Some models also wore plastic beaks on their heads which reminded me a lot of the spiked Givenchy crown.

Schumacher

Schumacher was the show I was most excited about. As exspected the collection was to die for. A great color palette which ranged from pastel pink to burgundy and an amazing mix of high-class materials. And then the footwear and this leather satchel...I wanted to grab everything from the runway and sneak away. Eventually I left the show with my goody-bag (it contained a stylish and useful coffe-to-go-mug) and the insight that Milla Jovovich looks even fresher in real.

30paarhaende

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Actually 30paarhaende ("30 pairs of hands" in English) is not a real label, it's a studying project of Berlin's school FHTW. To be honest, my exspectations weren't that high. I thought the creations would be totally crazy but in the end the students presented a bunch of trendy, fresh and mostly wearable looks that I totally adored. My conclusion: The team of the FHTW can definately compete with "real" designers. Besides Schumacher and Arrondissement Aq1 it was one of my favorite shows.

Berlin FW: Christina Duxa Couture / Dimitri / Anja Gockel

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Saturday night I came back from Berlin FW. It was my first time to attend a fashion week and even if it was not Paris or New York, it was a great experience and a chance to get a closer look into the fashion business. I learned a lot in the four days in and around the white tent at the Bebelplatz. And even if I'm still super tired and absolutely exhausted, I had a lot of fun and an unforgetable time. It's such a pity that there was not enough time to discover Berlin. The city's huge compared to the "village" I live in and has a lot to offer. Besides six shows I managed to see at the main location and a competition for young fashion designern off-site called "Start your fashion business", I also did some shopping - of course. Sigh, Berlin is a real shopping paradies.
But now back to the fashion. Here's the first part of my show recap:

Christina Duxa Couture

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Christina Duxa Couture was the first fashion show I ever saw. Aftre some organisation problems at the beginning, the lights finally turned off and a great sound was turned on. The first few looks were absolutely not my taste. They reminded me a lot of the clothes you find in big department stores. But than after a rusty start, the clothes grew on me. The silhouettes and cuts became fancier and the use decent colors like cream, nude or grey added an elegant touch that fitted perfectly to the collection's theme Côte d'Azur. My favorite combination was definately the one with the satin cycle shorts (left). Eventually I'd say that Christina Duxa Couture was a nice offbeat for the FW respectively for my personal one.

.Dimitri by Dimitri Panagiotopoulos

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The collection of Dimitri reminded of a stroll on a oriental bazaar: Embroidered dresses in bright colors, ethno elements and details inspired by bellydancing. The designer converted modern, very flattering cuts with his personal roots, that's what I loved about his collection. The three looks above wear absolutely stunning, especially the maxi-dress. I would wear them right away from the runway. Superb, Mr. Panagiotopoulos!

Anja Gockel

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The Anja Gockel fashion show already started at 10 am so I had to get up very early, too early if you ask me. I exspected a classy and feminine collection and my suspicion was confirmed. The first looks were nearly boring. It seemed like the designer's audience were women over 30 that try to balance between job and family life. The colors and patterns were too painted in my opinion. But in the end there were also some fresher, younger looks that met my taste at least a bit. Surprisingly I aslo liked the combination of the purple pants with colorful jacket (left), which reminded a bit of a tableau. If Anja Gockel sticks more to those racy, inventive cuts and adapts patterns and colors in a less striking manner, her next collection might be a hit.

90's nightmare or hot summer trend?

Reading this post, you might have some kind of "childhood-flash-back". Well, I did when I realised that cycle shorts are having a come-back this summer. I always used to wear black ones with short bright dresses when I was a little girl. The designer's interpretation doesn't have anything in common with this interpretation of the cycle shorts tough. From Prada to Wang over DKNY - all of them go for a very cool look which I totally adored on the runway but what about their everyday capability? Yes or no? I'm not sure yet but I'm definately gonna try it out. Just ordered two black pairs from H&M. I'll style them with dotted tights (as seen on Alexa) and a basic white shirt.

What about you: Are you going with the cycle shorts or filing them into the "90s nightmares"- dossier?

In case you didn't know who she's until now, I'm sure you've already seen her on jak&jil or another street style blog. The lady with the ginger hair is the style and accessory director of the US Marie Claire. She mixes new trends with her own notes and emerges in this way quite interesting and unique looks. Sometimes I like them more and sometimes less but I think that's what makes her in the end so interesting...

Spring's denim overdose

Bilder hochladen

Could you imagine a season without denim? I think it's impossible. Sometimes there's more and sometimes less denim, but it is (and will be probably) always there in some way though. Coming to this port's topic SS 2010 seems to be one of the seasons with an overrun of denim. After jeans chemises and jackets paired primarly with black, the designers envision a real overdose of the blue fabric: Jeans jumpers, dresses, jackets, shorts, chemises, pants, accesory.... - and all that as possible together in one outfit.

I'm not very keen on this combination since I wouldn't call myself the biggest denim fan. Apart from some exceptions I don't like this all-over look and still prefer my jeans with white and black.

A minus for Olivia

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Actually I'm totally into Olivia Palermo's style since she is always looking elegant but yet cool and stylish. When I saw this pic of her at NY fashion week I was a little disappointed though. This plaid shirt destroyed the entire look which would have been absolutely stunning and Olivia-like with a simple white/black shirt.

Caroline's giveaway

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Swedish stylist, blogger and fashionista Caroline Blomst offers you the chance to win a great outfit that includes essentiel pieces that you definately need in your closet. You can chose your favorite look from 14 combinations.

Above you can see my favorite look: H&M open-toe Heels, a studded leather jacket from Topshop, striped dress and skirt with leather details from Lindex.

I chose this look because it represents absolutely my style and weardrobe. It's a cool and casual look but yet fierce, that's why it I'd wear it for going-out as well as for school (with flat shoes). Especially the Topshop jacket made me fell in love with this look because I've been desperately seeking a similar one without succes. Besides the striped shirt is a pretty basic you're always in need of and the skirt seems ver unique with its leather look details. And the shoes...they wouldn't only look good, they would also have a meaningful employment by helping me to improve my 'walking-on-high-heels'-skills.

Another leather item

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I abandoned hope! Winter just won't leave Germany and I'm really startingt to get in some kind of 'snow-depression'. I just hate it and can't stand it anymore. Definately time to think of something else, so how about a little fashion prediction for spring - in case that it will arive eventually - ?

After leather jackets, skirts and pants our closets will be afflicted now by leather shorts. They were already shown at many FW '09 and repeatedly on the SS '10 runways and lookbooks.

I like them a lot but I didn't get one yet. Maybe it's because I always feel some kind of nasty if I wear leather items? Well I'm gonna stick to trying them and maybe I can even wear them with tights if the winter decides to be a little more indulgent....

Clogs = The Footwear of Spring/Summer 2010?

Here we go again guys...After an eternity without having internet - well it seemed so, guess it's because I'm a junkie - here I am back again, curing a cold life from my cozy bed.

Since Chanel's and Louis Vuitton's RTW shows the footwear trend par exellence for the up-coming season is settled: Say hello to (high heeled) clogs ladies. The word 'clogs' made me think at first about the feet of Dutchwoman with blonde braids and checked skirts. Karl Lagerfeld's interpretation made me change my mind quickly. I could totally see myself wearing a dark version like Alexa did lately at Chanel's Haute Couture show. And besides the fact that they're super handy we've to admit that their sound on asphalt is enormouly charming and nostalgic...

Alexa

After ages I was strolling in the forums of tfs when I found this amazing pic of Alexa Chung that I never saw before. From the outfit to her face expression everything about this took my breath away so I just couldn't keep it back from. Might be one of the best shots somebody ever made of her.

Enjoy the week-end!

The last year we didn't hear and see much of Nicole but finally she seems to be back (in style). I think she looked always great lately and the dark hair suits her so well. Sigh, I really missed her...
